Sankofa Juba
Sankofa. Poet. Performer. Educator. Radio broadcaster. Cultural worker. Sankofa is a Diasporic cultural artist whose explosive poetry has been stirring audiences from Toronto to Kingston, Jamaica. Sankofa has presented and curated numerous poetry shows featuring mainly youth poets. During the International Dub Poetry Festival 2004, he hosted the Slam Performance and Competition that brought together some of Toronto's most known spoken word artists. He is convinced that art, especially poetry, can be used as a tool for personal, social, cultural, and political transformation. Sankofa is the host of "Urban Griot" a popular radio show on CHRY radio.
