What Size Door Should
You Buy?
The
dimensions listed in specifications from Beyond The Screen Door
are based on the actual opening the door is required to fit. Our
nominal sizes are able to fit a range of actual dimensions within
acceptable tolerances.
Measuring up for a perfect fit!
To find the right size door for your home, first measure the
width of the opening in which the door will be installed. Take
measurements in three places:
- across the top,
- across the middle
- across the bottom of the opening.
Then measure the height in two places, once along each side of
the door.
Match our range of door sizes to your smallest measurements for
width and height.
Nominal Heights:
- 80" fits openings 79 3/4 to 80 5/8"
- 82" fits openings 80" to 82" (wood doors only)
Nominal Widths:
- 32" (fits openings 31 3/4 to 32 5/8")
- 34" (fits openings 33 3/4 to 34 5/8")
- 36" (fits openings 35 3/4 to 36 5/8")
If the opening falls outside of these dimensions, or if there
is significant variation between the smallest and largest measurements
you take, you may need a carpenter to adjust your existing doorjamb,
or consider ordering a custom-sized door.
Tolerances for fitting the width of vinyl doors to the jamb are
provided by adjusting the Z-bar frame. Tolerances for fitting the
height are provided by adjusting the position of the sweep Wood
variances are obtained from minimal trimming of the door.
