Safety Tips
BEFORE YOU GO, REMEMBER TO...
MAKE SURE someone is watching your home for you. Some insurance policies require that your home be checked every week while you are away in order for you to be adequately covered. You may wish to call your agent to be sure.
TURN OFF YOUR WATER to appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators, outside taps and irrigation systems.
LEAVE AN ITINERARY with a family member or good friend.
ENSURE your alarm company knows who might be entering your home while you are away.
CARRY a valid passport for identification and/or a valid drivers license.
ENSURE you have enough travel insurance.... accidents do happen.
LOCK all doors, windows, sheds and garages.
TURN DOWN your furnace (15c/65f), water tank (to vacation).
HAVE LIGHT timers set and rotated while you are away.
HAVE ALL mail and papers stopped or picked up daily. This also applies to flyers.
