SECURITY

How Do I...?

The Security menu item will present a list of all employees and their passwords (see screenshot below). Along with this, the list will include options for restricting or granting access to certain parts of the program.

Scrn: Security

Typically, every employee is given an entry in this list. The default password for each employee is the first four letters in the employee's last name. As administrator, it is possible to change each person's password by simply clicking on the Edit button in the toolbar and typing the new password into the appropriate field. If you wish to delete an employee's access, select the employee to erase and click on the Delete button in the toolbar while in Edit mode.

It is also possible to grant certain people partial access to the system. To do so, check the item(s) next to the person's name that the person will be granted access to. In this example, the first employee in the list has access to all functions, the second to only the Info and Recall functions, the last only Main.

Access to the program can be broken down into these categories.

Main- This will grant access to the program itself. [????]

Info- This will allow the operator to view and edit patient personal information files.

Recall- This lets the user enter, view and modify patient recall entries.

Ledger- Grants access to the general ledger and similar accounting functions.

Payroll- Allows the user to view and modify the payroll for employees in the site. Typically, this level of access is only granted to administrative staff.

Security- Allows access to this function and grants the ability to add, modify or delete access codes. Typically, this level of access is only granted to administrative staff.

In the toolbar of this window, there are two extra buttons beside the normal editing tools.

BUTTON DESCRIPTIONS

ICON FUNCTION
The Security Key button. This will bring up the following window.

Scrn: Security Key

As a tool against software policy, MIRROR will automatically ask you for a security key every so often to ensure that the software is legitimate.

Typically, the program will inform you that the time to enter a security key has come and will provide you with your private security key. After this point, you have a two-week period to send the security key provided (labeled Private Security Key) to MIRROR, either by electronic mail or other method. MIRROR will then provide you with the MIRROR security key. Enter it in this window to continue working.

If you do not enter a new key in two weeks, MIRROR will stop functioning. If this happens, simply obtain your MIRROR security key from MIRROR and enter it to resume normal functioning.

Note that each security key is unique to each machine. [If your site supports several machines running the program, send in the private security keys for all workstations. You will receive the MIRROR keys to all of them.]

Note that this is done free of charge for all users of MIRROR.

This is the Clear All Passwords button. It will erase all user names and passwords stored in the program. Use this button if you wish to reset or re-enter all of the passwords; if, as a regular security procedure, the passwords are changed after a certain period of time.
