The opening lines of one of Canada's best-known poems flows across the white portion of our flag. The two red panels contain a 'ghosted' assortment of images that represent parts of Canada's history... the opening notes of 'O Canada'; Josiah Henson's image; the ID number of one of the scuttled Avro Arrow fighter planes, etc. (Please note: The images have been purposely designed to become visible to a greater or lesser degree depending upon how far away the viewer stands from the picture and the angle of the light).
