The DMC Corportation... Unfortunately, my poor old computer just can't keep up with this wonderful site. So... I pour a cup of tea, set my feet up on our son's computer desk, lean back and revel in this site's spectacular web effects. Otherwise, I visit their faster-loading site where there is a message centre; lots of free projects, colour name lists and floss conversion charts to print out; tips on taming Rayon floss and great links.
The Kreinik web-site... offered more than a few surprises. I didn't know that they make kid leather embellishments and offer books on tying flies for fly fishing... did you?
Uncle Tom's Cabin... in both its virtual and tangible forms offers a wealth of information. At the web-site, you'll find how to get there; biographical details about Josiah Henson and a reading list for more intensive study. As part of the Underground Railroad Network, it also offers links to other sites on the African Canadian Heritage Tour.
The Webstitcher's Sourcebook is an amazingly inspirational site. So many beautiful and informative sites are amassed here that it takes quite some time to see everything. Don't miss Albert G. Richard's 'Secret Garden' of floral radiographs in the 'Sources for Design' section... they're gorgeous!
Mill Hill Beads... tips, kits, leaflets and more from the people who add a special touch to so many needlework designs.
I-L Soft... makes a number of different software applications (including the cross-stitch programme that I use)... it produces beautifully crisp print-outs! The site offers a number of interesting links and even has downloadable demos.
Wichelt... has a very helpful feature in their products area - their fabric swatches are cross-referenced to DMC colours.
Zweigart... Did you know they have a Needlework Trivia Quiz? Just click on 'Interact with Us' at their home page.
The Herbal Touch... Marilyn Edmison-Driedger's web-site has very effectively captured the magic that makes her Otterville, Ontario shop such a beautiful place to visit. Be sure to have your speakers turned on... some pages have a lovely, relaxing musical accompaniment.
Richter's... carries such an enormous variety of herbs that it's quite likely every herb garden in Ontario contains some stock they propagated. Their site is a wonderful resource for those interested in all herbs, medicinal and culinary.
Stitcher's Habit... While my interest in herbs is culinary, Canadian needlework designer Carol Scott Higeli focuses on their medicinal properties (she's working towards becoming a homeopath). Her web-site contains a wide-ranging and very interesting collection of links... including one of my favourite musicians, Loreena McKennitt. Be sure to visit her Chinese Silk Embroidery link... there are some beautiful photos of double-sided embroidery pieces.
Kathy Dyer's Counted Cross-stitch, Needlework and Stitchery Page... contains a very large selection of needlework links... including a handy, on-line "How Much Fabric" calculator and the 'Rec.crafts.textiles.needlework' link (a needlework discussion group).
Monica Ferris... combines two of my favourite things - needlework and murder mysteries. Also known as Mary Monica Pulver, Mary Pulver Kuhfeld and Margaret of Shaftesbury, I first discovered her while reading the posts on the RCTN page (above).
Bolerama... is dedicated to Bolers and their sister trailers, the Trillium. We bought an old Trillium in the summer of 2000 and found a wealth of information about vintage RV's at this site. Vintage Vacations is worth visiting if you find the sight of vintage RV's delightful.
Nick Bantock... the creator of the Griffin and Sabine Trilogy and one of my favourite artists, has a simply gorgeous web-site.
Lynne's Cross-Stitch Links... no, this isn't me. This Lynne has compiled an impressive list of cross-stitch sites and accumulated several other collections of useful links... mystery fiction; words and word games; Canadian information and Coronation Street to name a few.
The Mosaic Gallery... father and son, Carlos and Jason Cohen, bring the art of mosaic to its most ultimate level. You can almost see the wind blow in their 'Geisha Girl' piece!
The Cross Stitch Corner... contains an incredible collection of links. There's bulletin boards for many designers, magazines, stitching information, the list goes on...
The Wood Burner... it's unlikely, I know, but just in case someone visiting this site shares my interest in wood-working, you might like to check this out. There's a message board, gallery, FAQS and an excellent woodburning tutorial (for people, like me, who buy wood-burning tools but don't have a clue how to use them!)
StitchAlley... is a cross stitch directory with links to on-line shops, photo-to-chart sites and much more.
Cross Stitch Pals Bulletin Boards... a friendly, supportive gathering of stitchers who share their needlework triumphs, tribulations and wisdom.
Wanted Words... if you enjoy playing with words, you might like to check out this weekly CBC-Radio game.
Bartlett's Quotations... comes is so handy when you've got a quote rattling around in your head and you just can't remember where it came from.
Coffee Cup software... although I've never designed a web-site before (and am unusually gifted at wrecking computers!), the task was quite simple using this software.
