SAWW Scholarship Program

South African Women for Women had already established itself by its prestigious South African Women's Day celebrations and by the Awards ceremonies honouring South African Women who have dedicated their lives toward the struggle against apartheid and who have achieved excellence in the fields.

Today, with the support of generous individuals, corporations organizations and foundation from Canada's diverse communities, the South African Women for Women Scholarship Fund continue to support youth in their pursuit of excellence. Perseverance in the face of adversity, a passion for learning and the willingness to pass their knowledge on to others.
These were, and are, the traits of our leaders in South Africa such as former President Nelson Mandela and The Most Reverend Archbishop Tutu.

The S.A.W.W. Scholarships have been an outstanding success for our community. Over the past four years, we have awarded 10 young scholars with the opportunity to continue their education at universities in South Africa.

Yet, every year the scholarship selection committee faces a heart-breaking challenge. We receive increasing numbers of requests from students who meet or surpass the criteria.

We see the cost of post-secondary education and find that the Scholarship Fund has grown but not enough to sufficiently meet these requests. Therefore we are thankful for our Scholarship Sponsors for their continued support.

Successful companies recognize that the benefit of a diverse workforce is the resulting diversity of ideas. It makes excellent business sense to support talented students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

South African Women for Women are grateful and we applaud our sponsors for helping to "raise" our youth through the Scholarship Fund.

In 1997, South African Women for Women launched the Scholarship Fund to be awarded annually to students attending college or universities in South Africa. With these scholarships, the association sought to nurture academic excellence among youth in South Africa.
