Wild Mandarin (Citrus sp. Cr.)

Catalog # 142 - A beautiful small citrus tree with ovalesque bright green leaves. The flowers are tinged with red in the bud, and white inside. They are followed by an abundance of tangerine looking but tangy edible fruit, used as a dressing in most cuisines in the south on finely shredded cabbage and tomato salads. The wild mandarin may be coddled in the winter months keeping its temperature close to 55D (13C) and watering sparingly from Oct -March. Oddly enough citrus do not like cigarette smoke, another reason to tell your guests to avoid doing so in your household.
