The communication between the switch and the computers is separately negotiated by the microcontroller. The microcontroller can even issue a hard reset - power down the keyboard in case it does not respond.
Connectors: 15 pin dense D shell, VGA compatible. Signals: analog monitor video signals. Factory configured for B/W or color. Monitor mode signals are passed back fom the monitor to all computers There are still relays used to switch video. Contact bouncing there is not a problem and high video bandwidth up to 100Mhz can be achieved.
