The regular hexagon is like the soap bubble chamber is like the alveolar chamber is like 60 degree geometric tiling schema is like

the field of regular hexagons created by the cells of the honeycomb. But, the pattern of the honeycomb, the field of regular hexagons, the symetrical patterns of Islamic geometric tiling schema are not like soap bubble chamber walls, surface patterns of ice and waves and alveolar chamber walls. These patterns are irregular and must follow the constraints of organic growth and development. What all of these patterns share in common is a structure that is based on 60 degree angular relations.

The bee cell is like the alveolar chamber and the soap bubble chamber in that the bees construct the maximum amount of storage space per cell with the minimum amount of wax per wall structure. The bee cell is not like the alveolar breathing chamber of the lungs in that the honeycomb is constructed in parallel regular planes, whereas the breathing passages and chambers of the lungs grow in a tree-like branching pattern.

The arterial tree of the fetal lung can demonstrate growth and function in one image. The bronchial passages must carry air to the furthest tips of the breathing chambers of the lung just as the arteries and veins must carry blood supply to the furthest tips of the lungs for the transpiration of oxygen. That is the function of the breath.
