RECOLLECTIONS

This part of the web site is to list people's recollections of either being in, working with or seeing Vitamin Z live in concert.  If your name is on this list without any information following it that means I would love to hear from you about your memories of Vitamin Z.

NICK   LOCKWOOD

It was a lot of fun and a lot of frustration. Unusually Geoff and I were better friends at the end than when we started.  I love to travel and was happiest when we were in unusual and far away places.  I have fond memories of being in the Atlas  Mountains in North Africa, this was for the "Rites Of Passage" album cover.  Or making the video for "Circus Ring" in the Kurdish section of Istanbul.  I found the Kurds to be a very proud and noble people, it is sad to see them suffer so much.  One of the great gifts of life is to live the lives of others.

(on touring)   We never played live outside of Europe, although we always wanted to tour the U.S. we never got around to it. Apart from the above we did a couple of tours of the U.K. .  (see tour dates)

STEVE DAVIES - FAN
You asked for peoples recollections thoughts  of the band. Well here's mine..

I went to see Midge Ure on tour in 1985 at the Crawley Leisure Centre in the UK. Anyway what I remember most of
that era was seeing some of the words worst support bands of all time, what was it about the mid eighties that spawned
so many average bands (a couple spring to mind Beltane Fire,Zerra One, Shy - anyone know what happened to these )?
The usually policy was to get there early pick out your spot towards the front laugh at the support band then head to the
bar for an hour before the real act came on. Anyway what I remember of that night was standing in a fairly crowded large
sports hall and seeing this support band Vitamin Z come on stage to the usual high level of indifference from the audience.

Then they started playing .....The vocals literally gripped me I remember standing there with my mate suggesting we head
to the bar, and me saying no I think I want to hear this. I do not remember the playing order but I remember being gripped
by 'Burning Flame' and 'Circus Ring'. Vitamin Z had something unique and it was not just Geoff's amazing vocal range, the
music the lyrics created an emotional response.  'Angela' still makes me start to well up, 'Every time that I see you' gets me thinking of every failed relationship, and 'Circus Ring' gets me thumping the steering wheel on my way to the office now!

What does Vitamin Z mean to me .. Well every time I listen to the tape and12" I have I remember some of the best times
in my life, but more than that it is music I still listen to even now. For other Vitamin Z related stuff one of my favourites is
Geoff's track on Alan Parsons Project Gaudi album, the surreal thing was the track was once used on Miami Vice!

Thanks Again for a great site !
