Trumystic Sound System is a grouping of Brooklyn scene musicians including the WordSound label's Dr Israel, Soothsayer, Ish and O.H.M.. The tracks have a little more polish than their WordSound recordings, except maybe the raw Muslimgauze-styled track "Babomb" by Mutamassik (who was one of Arto Lindsay's remixers on the Hyper Civilizado CD). On this eclectic disc you'll find WordSound-style tracks from Ish ("Division") and O.H.M. ("Click Click" and the driving bass & Batucada breaks cut "Born Naked") but generally Dr Israel is producing an accessible mix of hip-hop, drum & bass and reggae, including message songs featuring soul vocalist Divaship, who sounds like Dorado's Jhelisa and sings also on Dr Isreal's recent Inna City Pressure CD. Co-executive producer Soothsayer is also going for a mixed sound of hip-hop and jungle, the beats for "Livin' In Brooklyn" according to his spoken rap in the lead track. He also mellows out for a Fugee-ish rap and piano track "There He Sat (Love Mix)."
