Long time fans will love this new Holger Czukay album, his first solo album in six years. After the former Can man's recent beats and samples collaboration with Dr. Walker, he's returned to the classic vocabulary of his albums Movies and On The Way To The Peak Of Normal - the chiming guitar, the inventive arrangements and the jump-cut shifts in ambience. Long-time collaborators Jah Wobble and Jaki Liebezeit join in for Holger's dubby tale of the "Invisible Man," and his muse U-She makes her vocal debut as the domestic foil in "Good Morning Story." In the title track he comes through on his promise to one-up the DJ scene by sampling the laid-back rare groove-type break from Can's "Vitamin C," which gets sped-up in the following "Dancing In Wild Circles." For a finale, he reveals the latest of his Stockhausen-style pieces, "Mirage" (his first sampling piece to use a sampler!) featuring 22 minutes of found voices, ethno forgeries and shimmering long tones. Bravo.
