Toronto dark-hoppers Alien Radio Station speed up their breaks on their imposing second CD. The sub-bass drops ("Milk Song") and Meat Beat-y dub bass lines ("New LSD") now create the murky bottom for faster funky drumming ("Fill") and breakbeat rhythms ("New Jungle"). And like Meat Beat, they've found discomfiting horror string sweeps and whining electronic loops to lower the shades on their dark moods. Alien Radio Station are now signed to the indie label Sweet Tooth, for whom they did a remix of Sticky. Their label mates Hollowphonic and Sticky will join them at Alien Radio Station's CD release party June 3rd at the Rivoli in Toronto. If they haunt a club near you, don't miss them.
