Jyrgen Hall (from the Groenland Orchester) becomes Gunter Adler for this collection of electronic pop junkets. Like his countrymen in the new German school of instrumental music, "Gunter" reaches back past techno to sixties electronic pop, muzak and programmic music. Tourist locales seem to glide by as you listen to the tracks named after various cities and countries. "Brussels" sets the stage for this electronic travelogue, that begins to motor with "Goteborg" and the Mouse On Mars-style "Hungary." The rhythms become more exotic during "Cancun," even drill-ish courtesy of bursts of drum machine in the quirky "Madurai (Dark Sunglasses)." "Gunter" seems to be having a lot of fun, splitting off from his melodic material for occasional day trips to the avant garde.
