   Chris Rawlings is a professional musician and songwriter, born in Montreal, presently living in Toronto. Since 1968 he has made his living by entertaining and composition in many different settings. Fluent in English and French, Chris has touched adult audiences with his music throughout Canada and abroad, winning Le Disque d'Argent from l'Academie Charles Gros, with Gilles Losier and Denis Coté and Quebec Dance troupe Les Gens de Mon Pays, in Dijon, France, 1976. As a children's performer, Chris specialises in engaging educational songs. As a composer and arranger, he has won awards for his work with the National Film Board.

1998: Rocks and Water: Earth Science songs on CD for children of all ages.

1998: Has Anyone Seen My Umbrella: Theme music for CD-ROM for Literacy International in conjunction with N.F.B.

1990: Soundtrack for video of same, story by Max Fergeson. Directed by Eva Szasz

1995: The Mare's Egg: Soundtrack for an N.F.B. video release. Directed by Eva Szasz. The 1986 filmstrip version of the same film won Golden Apple and Silver Screen Award, U.S. National Educational Film and Video Festival, and U.S. Industrial Film and Video Festival, 1987.

1993: Carleton Car Neighbours: a streetcar ride through many cultures. 12 compositions for recorders and other instruments. Toronto Arts Council Award

1987: Canadian Recorder Quartets: Manuscript publication by Frederick-Harris Music of recorder quartet arrangements of Canadian traditional music, and 1980, Les Flutes Canadiennes, Radio Canada International, L.P. of same.

1984: Chris Rawlings: A compilation of songs, published by Elliot Chapin, Pub.

1982: It's Just Better: Soundtrack for N.F.B.'s Children of Canada series video.

1981: History of Labour: Compositions and traditional union songs for 6 film strips on Canadian Labour History, for the N.F.B., directed by Joe McDonald.

1969-1997: Best Loved English and French Poetry: Musical Settings of Coleridge's Ancient Mariner, Rimbaud's Le Bateau Ivre, W.B. Yeats' Lake Isle of Innisfree, Mathew Arnold's Dover Beach, and others by Dylan Thomas, John Masefield, Guillaume Appolinaire, etc.

Festival Performances: International

   Chris has performed at festivals throughout Bulgaria, Milwaukee, U.S.A, and Dijon, France. Most recently(Jan.96), he was the chansonnier at La Grande Balle des Suisses-Romandes de Zurich.

Festival Performances: National

   Chris has given many concerts and workshops at Canadian festivals including Mariposa, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Festival of Friends, Northern Lights, the Atlantic and Acadian Folk Festivals, and both Expo Œ86 and Œ67. His Children's festival appearances include London, Kingston, Wye Marsh Wildlife Festival, and The Children's Ground Water Festival at the Ontario Agricultural Museum and most recently WaterCan / EauVie's World Water Day Festival in Ottawa (Mar. 98).
