DBS Old Boys Recent Events in Toronto

1.    May 04, 2002 (Saturday):
A group of DBS old boys and their spouses invited Mr. Washington Chang to a
very happy luncheon gathering at Golden Court in Toronto.  Including Mr. Chang,
there were altogther eight of us:
           Mr. Chang, Washington
           Chan Sai-Kay, Derek
           Chan  Shun-Kuen, Jim
           Bush, Ian and Charity
           Wong Hin-Shing
           Wong, Stephen and Linda

During lunch, we talked about how many more DBS old boys  and teachers (around our time)
should be in and around Toronto.  For example, Jim mentioned that Dr. Lit Wai-Yue is in Waterloo.

We all agreed that there should be another reunion gathering, probably some time
      this year.  Stay tuned...

7.    August 10, 2002 (Saturday):
Dinner gathering at Dragon Boat Restaurant in Markham.
There were altogether nine of us:
            Poon Chik-Shing & Kwok-Ying
            Bush, Ian & Charity
            Chan, Derek & Fiona
            Wong, Hin-Shing
            Wong, Stepehn & Linda
It was a very enjoyable evening.  Thanks to Ian, we have some photos posted both to the Club Photo
        website and the DBS1961 website.
We also discussed the change of plan for our next reunion.  Seems OK for most of us, at least the
old boys.  Chik-Shing says he would extend his stay in Toronto for the happy occasion.

8.     September 01, 2002 (Sunday):
Dinner gathering at Dragon Boat Restaurant in Markham.
This time we had 5 guests, 4 of them from outside of Toronto:
           Mr. Chang, Washington (Toronto)
            Mr. Lit Wai-Yue (Waterloo)
            Chu, Leo (USA)
            Poon Chik-Shing (Hong Kong)
            Tai, Vincent (USA)
            Bush, Ian & Charity
            Li Shu-Poon
            Wong Hin-Shing
            Wong Kam-Keung
It was another very enjoyable evening.  We're especially appreciative of our guests, who either came
from far away or took great pains and determination to be with us that evening.
Some of us brought cameras and took some pictures.  As soon as I receive them, I'll post them to the
Club Photo and the DBS1961 websites.
We also touched on future plans for get-togethers.  Maybe another few months away...

From Leo Chu on the reunion:
"never met and some that i have not seen for 41 years. poon chik-sin came from
hk and had to stay for the dinner, and mr lit had to drive 2 hours to come to
dinner and mr cheung was on wheelchairs but enjoy the long dinner. we took
him back and he said he was very very please to come. here again i want to
thank hin shing for arranging this and they wont even let us pay for our
share and insist be their guest.

so next time around i would like to go back and reciprocate the same
hospitality. met ian and his wife who happens tobe shanghainess as me. all in
all this is a very very memorable occasion and i want to thank everyone even
including vincent who had been my driver for 2 days.
hope to see you guys again."

From Mr. Lit Wai Yu, former DBS teacher and also old boy:
        "Hi Hin-Shing,

Thank you once again for inviting me to the DBS reunion dinner party a
week ago today. I was particularly pleased to see Washington whom I have
not met for a good number of years.  I always enjoy meeting my former
students and friends.  I must consider myself very much blessed with
excellent students, many of whom have become more than simply former
students to me.  One such students was married in Canada and I had the
great honour in playing the role of his father at his wedding ceremony.

I was very impressed by your success in having us come from different
places together.  The occasion was a precious one that was not easy to
have.  If we add up all the two-way distances from our homes to the
restaurant, the total distance will probably be enough to go round the
earth one and a half times.  That is quite impressive!

Hearing that you all have been and are doing very well made me looked back
to my DBS days and renewed my pride for our School.  It was a very
pleasant and warm feeling.  Although our sentiments might have been
different, I am sure that all of us were very happy, and had enjoyed very
much that evening.  Of course, much of the credit must go to you, Hin
Shing.  Please accept my very deep appreciation.

I hope the gathering last Sunday will be the beginning of more to come,
and look forward to meeting with all and any of the group.
