Film Review

Honor & Glory

Year: 1992

Directed by: Godfrey Hall

Cynthia Rothrock: co-stars as an FBI agent

Other Players: Donna Jason, Chuck Jeffreys, Gerald Klein

Plot Synopsis: CR teams up with her sister, a reporter, to prevent a monomaniacal banker from getting a nuclear weapon. Why does he want one? Godlike manhood or something.

General Impressions: Not good enough to aspire to mediocrity, this movie is truly terrible. The most annoying aspect is that it seems to be a vehicle for the actress who plays the reporter (Donna Jason); they're just using CR's name (and face on the box) to sell it. As such, CR drops out of the plot for long stretches. This is not a good thing. Then again, the less she has to do with this dog, the better! The villain was ludicrous. The acting was embarrassingly horrible (except for CR, naturally, who stood out as an experienced actor who could at least hear her cues and say her lines with a modicum of feeling and verisimilitude). The writing was generally painful. The soundtrack was overbearing. The fight scenes were ridiculous, with one noteable exception--the grande finale is mildly interesting, and one pair of fighters (Robin Shou and Richard Yuen) look like they stumbled in from another movie (a good one). CR shows a couple of good moves throughout, but is underused. Perhaps the only interesting element is that we discover that CR may be a San Francisco 49ers fan. Hey, take what you can! I expect sympathy for watching this movie more than once.

Watch It?: For completists only. On second thought, don't.
