Determining what kind of Palm III memory module you have
There are two different types of memory module for your Palm III. Early versions had chips on both sides, and were based on SRAM chips. Newer versions had chips on one side only, and use DRAM chips. To determine which kind of board is in your Palm III without opening the case, download the meminfo utility and install it on your PIII (available here in zip format).
I have received a report of meminfo causing a PalmPilot pro to lock up. I highly recommend that you back up your data before running it.
When run, if the output below "CSA1" indicates 1 Megabyte of memory, then you have the old type of board. If this row indicates 2MB of memory, then you have the newer board. The image here identifies an older board.
