Excerpt
from an e-mail written by one of our first scholarship recipients
– Noma Mtshali.
"A little bit about my academic record, after I had graduated for
MA Community Work, I registered for a Post Grad. Diploma in HIV
Management at the
World of Work which I finished in 2003.
I am now involved with an non-profit organisation called 'Mpilonhle
Project' which operates in KwaZuluNatal in a district called Uthukela.
I am aco-founder
of this organisation. Our focus is on HIV infected and affected communities
targeting mainly women and children. We form the community component
supporting the Communicable Disease Clinic at Ladysmith hospital offering Anti
Retroviral Treatment. We operate in the rural areas and come into contact
with the poor of the poorest. We are 18 months into the project.
Amongst the many that we do we care for, and nurture orphaned and vulnerable
children. Mobilise PLWA's to engage in gardening and income
generation activities, motivate for voluntary counselling and tesing
and also provide care for the sick at home.
Please Find a few photos just to get the feel of what I do.
Greetings.
