RENA BLATT


Rena Blatt, the recipient of this years Outstanding Contribution by a Non-South African Award, has been a friend of South African Women for Women from its inception a decade ago, providing expert advice, guidance and support on a wide range of issues.


Through her work in both the provincial and the federal levels of government, Rena has developed a number of research programs for small business and authored the federal government’s policy on entrepreneurship. She has designed and implemented programs in the retail sector and for women in business, including a business mentoring program.

Rena has continued to develop research on technological entrepreneurship, family enterprise, fast growth companies, international entrepreneurship and the characteristics of entrepreneurs.

Always active in the world of entrepreneuring and the small business community, she served as president of the Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship in 1998-99.

South African Women for Women is blessed to have Rena’s entrepreneurial and mentoring talents and insights over the years.

As a member of the advisory board, she has provided astute advice on a number of pivotal issues, always encouraging the organization to do what’s right for women, in education, in business and in health issues.

The interest in mentoring and in thinking through to the next step, the next level, have been instrumental in bringing SAWW to its present level of activity.
