toys.jpg (2869 bytes) I’m not an avid toy collector by any means, but there are a few things out there that make you forget your age and turn you into a kid all over again. I have a weakness for things that stoke fond childhood memories, and I’m also drawn to stuff that just wasn’t available in the old days. For example, in my family room you’ll find a Corgi Yellow Submarine with four pop-up Beatles, a talking Lost In Space robot, a plastic replica of The Enterprise that lights up and has different phaser sound effects and a talking Jim Kelly figurine. Listed below are a few of the latest hot items I’ve found while surfing the web and scanning the toy aisles:

The Titanic
No, we’re not talking about a plastic model or a puzzle, this is an inflatable ship that comes complete with a blow-up iceberg. It runs on a couple of AA batteries and the trick is to put it in some water and steer it around the berg. It may be tacky, but it serves as a great "ice-breaker" at parties.
emiglio.jpg (5451 bytes) Emiglio The Robot
What's there not to like about a talking radio-controlled robot that scoots around your house? The little guy even has a serving tray so he can bring you a cold one from the kitchen on those Sunday afternoons when it's critical for you to remain in your easy chair. A word of caution… he has some trouble with the speed bump between the hardwood floor and carpet.

A free-flying airplane with a powerful air pressure motor, an Air Hog can fly the length of a football field. I read that this is the product of three Western University grads who bought the patent from someone in England then poured several thousand dollars into refining the model. They've subsequently turned quite a profit as sales are soaring as high as the plane itself. The only problem with the Air Hog is that it is so impressive that after the first flight, you'll find yourself up to your armpits in children wanting to have a turn. To quote the immortal W.C. Fields "Get away from me kids, you bother me".

The piece de resistance…a remote controlled saucer that you can fly around your house.
