WHO are we?

People who love the arts. Sixty percent of our members are professional, the remainder are enthusiasts who enjoy being involved with the artistic community. The acronym LAMPS denotes the disciplines practised or enjoyed by our members:

Literature
Architecture
Music
Painting
Stage

Other fields represented by our members include journalism, poetry, interior design, photography, sculpture, illustration, set design, computer graphics, advertising, public relations and film.

WHY such a club?

To provide a milieu for the free and vigorous exchange of ideas and opinions. Good conversation and camaraderie are long-standing traditions.

We offer regular literary and music luncheons, members' dinners, musical and/or dramatic stage productions, and art exhibitions.

We celebrate festive events - a Boar's Head procession and dinner at Christmas, New Year's Eve galas, Burns dinners, theatre outings, and an annual garden party. Every April, we produce our renowned Spring Revue - a tradition since the late 1920's.

WHEN?

Five days a week, 12 months a year, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Lunch is served daily and a snack supper is available after 5:00 p.m.

WHERE?

At 14 Elm Street - close to theatres, shopping, and the business centre of Toronto. Two blocks from the Dundas/Yonge subway stop. Discounted noon and evening parking nearby.

HOW OLD IS THE CLUB?

The Arts and Letters Club was formed in 1908. Our historic building was built by the St. George's Society in 1891. The Arts and Letters Club leased it 1920 and purchased it in 1986. The three-storey building has been extensively renovated but it is not yet wheelchair accessible.
