Mr. John King
Assistant Deputy Minister, Health Care Programs
Ministry of Health
5th Floor, Hepburn Block
Queen's Park, Toronto
ON M7A 1R3

Dear Mr. King:

I am writing in support of Dani Harder's attempt to live in an apartment
in the community, rather than being sent to a chronic care institution. It
is inappropriate for a bright young woman of 26 to live in an institution
surrounded by the aged, the sick and the dying.

There are at least two benefits to her accommodation in an apartment.
First, I feel an apartment will afford her more choice and control in her
life which is important for a 26 year old adult. Secondly, it is my
understanding that Dani's proposed costs for support in her apartment will
be less than housing her in an institution - surely something that your
government feels is important.

As a taxpayer and humanitarian, I urge you to amend your present policy so
as to provide sufficient funding and accommodation for Dani and others like
her to live a reasonable and self-determining life in the community.

Sincerely
