Instruments Instrument Glass The instrument faces are provided as decals and never look quite right when just applied to the instrument panel. In the past I've tried painting them with X-22 to add a gloss surface, but it never looked quite right. When I was building the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird the instrument face were sunk into the panel. I decided to make 'glass' for the faces by punching disks from clear plastic. It looks great. To apply the instrument faces, I glue a toothpick handle to the face with Humbrol Maskol and let it dry. Then I apply a bit of Kristal Klear to the glass edges and carefully insert the glass. Once the Kristal Klear has dried the handle can be easily removed without pulling out the glass or leaving a mark on the glass.
