Exhaust Assembly
I temporarily install the engine into the frame so I can use the frame and engine as a jig to assemble the exhaust system. This ensures that everything is properly aligned after painting and final assembly.
Exhaust Springs
Its easy to make springs and loop brackets that secure the exhaust pipes on
some motorcycles. Particularly those with two-stroke engines. I make the springs by
inserting a very small drill into my pin-vise with shank end out. Wrap the wire around the
drill and use tweezers to squeeze it together tightly. For the loop brackets, wrap the
same gauge wire around the shank of a X-Acto knife blade and flattened it out. Then cut
down the middle of the loops creating several 'U'-shaped loops that can be CA glued to the
pipes before painting. The springs hook into these loops.
