EPIS Model 2.1

Full screen data transmission

An entirely new scheme of sending video data has been developped. The way of handling screen data was geared specifically to address the needs of the remote emulator screen. Operation of model 2.1 is based on a mirror screen image stored in EPIS memory rather then on sequential buffer. This makes it useless for message retrieval on the emulator side. However the recovery from multiple scrolls is immediate. What is more the writting can be prioritized for yet faster responce. Top down or reverse screen writing can be selected. Command line has always the priority for the fast echo.

Screen "noise" is very little - there is no sequential buffer and there are no effects associated with overflown buffer. Partial line writes can be enabled or disabled with the switch. Enabling partial line writes reduces the traffic while the noise is somewhat increased. The overhead of handling clock and status lines is reduced. Disabling partial writes causes the opposite.

In this mode the extraction of the messages on the emulator end is unreliable and it is not recommended.

In order to deliver messages for the automation please use EPIS 1.x series card in "Message line extraction mode" or "Printer Data transmission mode".
