Istvan Kantor's archive is the result of three decades of accumulation of notes, printed documents, photographic documentation, correspondence, objects, videos, etc. Kantor is obsessed with collecting any and information concerning his own activities just as well as the work of other Neoists. He claims to have an almost complete archive of Neoism that includes the very first handwritten documents, recorded interviews, small press publications, video tapes, super8 films, flyers, manifestos, musical recordings from the late 70s to the most recent publications, photographic documentation, etc.,of today's events. Kantor owns a large collection of mail-art that includes, among others, the entire BRAIN IN THE MAIL exhibition from 1979. Kantor keeps developing a David Zack archive to be the base of an upcoming exhibition and book project. Zack has been instrumental in Kantor's Monty Cantsin mission in the late 70s. He was an instigator of anarchistic poetical experimentation and an early practitioner of correspondence art. After spending a few years in prison in Mexico, he disappeared in 1995 in Texas without leaving any trace. Most of his works were destroyed by the circumstances of his chaotic life. Kantor's archives are located in Montreal, Toronto and Budapest and are only available for private research.
