Case 2 - Specialized Tax Consulting Firm
This client is a tax consulting firm specializing in Research and Development
tax law. As they have grown, their need for organized and equitable ways of
working with their employees became important.
Compensation Strategy and System
We developed job levels using our job evaluation system. Using the job
descriptions we wrote, we researched the external market and developed salary
ranges for all positions in the organizations.
Using our unique competencies assessment approach, we analyzed actual
salaries, and recommended a plan to realign salaries with the company's values,
the competitive market, and the experience, skills, business behaviours and
performance of each employee
Annually we provide an update for the salary scales and recommend a range of
salary increases that are competitive and affordable.
Variable Pay - Bonuses That Work
We developed a new bonus plan that replaced a system that was based on the
owner's judgment, and that was causing mistrust amongst employees. The new
system is based on individual and corporate objectives, and is linked to
corporate affordability.
Team Dynamics
Working closely with the owner, we developed an operating system that enabled
the growing company to retain its original small team atmosphere, while allowing
individuals to develop into senior consultants, or alternatively going into
management. The approach included self assessment processes, internal support
and coaching for team members, peer assessment as part of the performance
management system.
Assist With Hiring Process
We assist this client with his hiring by conducting additional interviews,
providing psychological profiles, and by doing extensive reference checks.
