Welcome to the site of Canada’s premier dealer in fine prints Jan Johnson, Old Master & Modern Prints, Inc., was begun in 1979 by owner and director Jan Johnson after six years in the print department of P & D Colnaghi, London, and three previous years of print research in European museum collections. Specialized originally in Old Master Prints, the company expanded into 19^th and early 20^th Century European and Canadian prints on transferring from London to Montreal, Canada, in 1982. We offer a wide-ranging and well-researched stock with an emphasis on high quality impressions and excellent condition. While major names such as Rembrandt, Dürer, Whistler, and Goya are usually represented, our taste also runs to the less obvious. This opens up the wider gamut of styles, schools and techniques that make artists’ prints so interesting, and our stock’s diversity brings with it a wide price range which enables us to encourage collectors at all levels. They have the additional assurance that all prints are guaranteed authentic and as described. We also act at auction for clients, search for desiderata, and perform appraisals. We are always open to opportunities to purchase good quality prints. Visitors are welcome to view stock at our Montreal premises by appointment. You are also invited to join the mailing list for intermittent catalogues and stock-lists, and to tell us what it is you are looking for. We exhibit at various international print fairs throughout the year, including the November New York Print Fair sponsored by the International Fine Print Dealers’ Association, of which we are a long-standing member.
