HAGERMANS THAT NEED A BRANCH TO CLING TO

"ELUSIVE" ELIZABETH HAGERMAN

SOLVED SEE ABEL GILBERT BIBLE ENTRY

Here's what we know about her:

Elizabeth Hagerman of Sidney Tp. Married Stephen Goldsmith of
Hallowell Tp. Ont. October 10,1803.
[Ref: McDowall's marriage Register p.4]

Stephen received his Order - in - Council December 6, 1803
[Ref: Book "The Loyalists in Ontario" by William D. Reid, page 127]
There does not appear to be any indication (so far) that
Elizabeth's father was a U.E.L. ( she received no land grant).
Steven Goldsmith was b June 23, 1780
Elizabeth's birthdate (guessing - about 1786).
Stephen Goldsmith & Elizabeth Hagerman settled on a farm
adjacent to Henry Hagerman -Sidney Twp. Hastings Co.
[Henry Hagerman's lot was Lot 16 Con 3 - just
east of the town of Trenton}

HENDRIKUS/HENRY HEGEMAN

Here's what we know about Henrdrikus:

He was married to Blandina Ostrom/Ostrum and with her had
three issue:

Elizabeth b.August 6th 1786 (m. Stephen Goldsmith)
Roelof b Schenectady NY June 06, 1788 (presumed died young)
Hendrikus/Henry b Schenectady NY July 16, 1789 (m. Tabitha Clapp)

From the Reformed Church of Schenectady, Schenectady County NY records:

"Henry Hegeman and Dina Oostrom, a son Roelof, b 6 Jun 1788, bp 22 Jul
1788.
Hendrikus Hegeman, deceased, and Blandina Oostrum, a son Hendrikus, b
16 Jul 1789, bp 15 Feb 1790 sponsors Nicholas Hegeman and Maria Peltz".

This compiler thinks likely that Hendrikus Hegeman descends somewhere in
the family of Hendricus Hegeman and Gertruy Barends-- as the above sponsor
(Nicholas Hegeman) is a s/o Joseph Hegeman and Elizabeth Van Wagenen
Joseph being the s/o Hendricus and Gertruy... i.e.

Hendricus Hegeman m. Gertruy Barends
....Joseph Hegeman m. Elizabeth Van Wagenen
.......Nicholas Hegeman m. Maria Peltz/Pels (spons. Hendrikus bap.)

Hendrikus Hegeman may be an (unknown to me) eldest s/o Joseph -and
brother of Nicholas (the sponsor) OR a son of one of Hendricus and
Gertruy's other sons
(however - pure speculation on my part )

According to "Methodist papers 1830-1857":
"The Widow Mrs. Hagerman had three children (one deceased)
and brought the two children from NY to Sidney Twp. in 1790."
("The Widow Mrs. Hagerman" is Blandina/Dentia Ostrom/Ostrum who married
secondly - Abel Gilbert October 09, 1792.)
