Events Time for SASC's annual fundraiser production of the "VAGINA MONOLOGUES"! The "Vagina Monologues" is a fabulous play created by Eve Ensler, that celebrates women's power, sexuality, and individuality. The evocative performance of the monologues has the power to move almost anyone to laughter, to tears, and to feel inspired. As part of the V-Day movement to end violence against women and girls, Eve Ensler loans the rights to her play to various community groups who want to help raise money for programs that fight violence against women. A limited number of tickets will be available for a reception after the show, which will also serve as a 20th ANNIVERSARY celebration for SASC! The reception will include refreshments, music, a chance to meet and greet actresses and organizers, and a silent-to-live auction of fabulous items. The actresses this year include Oni the Haitian Sensation, Jerri Southcott Arisa Cox from the New RO, Charity Brown from KOOL FM, and Tracey Hill from Magic100. Angie Porter from the NEW RO will be our MC for the evening. Tickets will be on sale by February 14th, at MOTHER TONGUE BOOKS (1067 Bank St., 730-2346) and at VENUS ENVY (110 Parent St., 789--4646). Women mourned, while holding candles and listening to Native drummers and speakers. We struggle for freedom and a safe world every day; we must all take the time to remember those who no longer struggle. *** * HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! SASC rang in the new year with the YOUNG WOMEN AT RISK PROGRAM NEW YEAR'S EVE BENEFIT BASH AT BABYLON!! The evening was jammed packed friends and fun, dancing, tons of cool bands, an art auction, and money was raised to support programs for teen women in custody, group homes, on the street, in shelters, or just in isolation. * Thanks to all of those who helped with the event, and those who came out and showed your support!
