About the ArtistErwin Rummel immigrated to Canada from West Germany in 1965, at the age of 25, after completing an engineering degree and having newly married. He worked for 30 years in the field of engineering physics as an employee of Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., then continued as a freelance consultant in the field of nuclear power generation for another 8 years and finally retired from engineering in 2003. The newly found free time allowed him to pursue a longstanding desire to try his hand as an artist. After some initial dabbling in sculpting, he started to take painting classes and found this venue most enjoyable. Over the last 3 years, he has taken painting classes at the Ontario Art Gallery, at the Santa Monica College in California, at the Toronto District School Board Continuing Studies program at the Avenue Road Art School in Toronto and at the Stefan Galvanek Fine Art School and Studio, also in Toronto. As an emerging artist, he has
displayed his work at the Steam Whistle Brewery and at the Women's Art
Association Gallery, with the next exhibit scheduled for July 2007 at
Toronto's Outdoor Art Exhibition on Nathan Phillips Square. |
