SIERRA RESEARCH DIVISION RECEIVES CONTRACT FROM RAYTHEON
Buffalo, NY, (December 1, 1997) -- Sierra Technologies, Inc. announced today that its Sierra Research Division ("Sierra") has received a contract from Raytheon Aircraft Company to produce four automatic flight inspection systems. These systems are designed to monitor and evaluate the accuracy of signals transmitted by en-route navigation and terminal landing aids used by commercial and private pilots around the world. These systems are destined for use in the Government of Brazil’s System for the Vigilance of the Amazon (SIVAM) Program.
Mr. Joe Tomasino, Sierra’s Vice President of Programs said, "Sierra continues to capture flight inspection system programs around the world and is recognized as leader in the design, development and manufacture of state-of-the art flight inspection systems. Our emphasis continues to be on supporting our current customers, winning new flight inspection business and maintaining our leadership position as we address new opportunities."
Under the contract, Sierra will design and manufacture and deliver four fully automatic flight inspection systems. While these systems will be used primarily to perform initial commissioning and periodic testing of all en-route and ground-based navigational aids installed by Raytheon under the SIVAM contract, they can also be used by the Government of Brazil to maintain its existing complement of navigational aids.
In addition to flight inspection systems, Sierra Research is prime developer, integrator and producer of electronic systems and products for worldwide military and commercial use. It is a division of Sierra Technologies, Inc., a privately owned small business. |
