    AT&T Canada Long Distance Services
    Senior Product Manager, Data Services

    1994 - Current

    Developed and co-ordinated strategies and tactics to achieve the revenue, profit and market share goals for various products within the Data Services portfolio.

    Accomplishments:

    Planned and implemented various product strategies to ensure the growth of AT&T Canada's leading edge data communications services

    • Expanded the geographic coverage of DataVPN Frame Relay Service by 50% over a one-year period. Service is available in more communities and regions in Canada making DataVPN a truly national service.
    • Introduced DS-3 (45 Mbps) dedicated private line as a general service offering. Customers increasing demand for high capacity transport services can be provided as a standard service rather than a special assembly
    • Restructured customer rates for DS-1 (1.5 Mbps) dedicated access service. Service rates for DS-1 access are now grouped into multiple rate bands and are competitively consistent with the provincial telephone companies

     

    Ainsworth Technologies Inc.
    Engineering Manager/Principal Consultant

    1990-1994

    Engineering Manager overseeing the preparation of major proposals and principal consultant for Local Area Network (LAN) engineering projects.

    Accomplishments:

    • Developed and delivered an enterprise network system design for al large campus environment
    • Orchestrated the development of a $7 million multi-disciplinary proposal for an integrated data communications infrastructure.
    • Project managed the delivery of a $250,000 turn key network system within 1 month of award; as required by the customer.

     

     

    Canstar Communications (division of Alcatel)
    Project Leader

    1986-1989

     

    Successfully led multi-disciplinary product development teams in the development of state-of-the-art optical fibre based local area network system components.

    Accomplishments:

    • Completed a joint product development of an Internet Protocol (IP) gateway with Cisco Systems. The gateway was accepted in field trials with a U.S. government organization.
    • Primary technical contributor to the 100Mbps Ethernet bridge connection module development program. This product concept was ahead of the industry by 5 years.
    • Co-developed the Product Development Procedure Specification adopted as the internal company standard.

     

     

    Amdahl Communications Incorporated
    Design Engineer

    1984-1986

     

    Developed rapidly into a senior engineer responsible for the design of equipment modules that formed the heart of the company's leading product offering.

    Accomplishments:

    • Completed the development of a complex common logic module for Amdahl's leading multiplexer product.
    • Completed the development of the alarm and common logic module for a protocol translator product need to ensure compatibility with U.S. data communication standards
    • Introduced and standardized the use of High Speed CMOS and Advanced Schottky technologies into product designs.

     

     

    Bell-Northern Research Limited

    1982-1984

    Refined academic knowledge with hands on experience concerning actual products and practical engineering issues.

    Accomplishments:

    • Developed and applied a comprehensive reliability model for a DS-3 (45 Mbps) digital voice multiplexer. The model predictions affirmed the decision to implement fault tolerance design for key system elements.
    • Developed and completed an extensive environmental performance evaluation for a voice concentrator product. The evaluation helped focus the design team on specific shortcomings present in the engineering prototype.
    • Conducted an environmental performance evaluation of a digital microwave transmission system.
