PTI's fully automatic LABEL INSPECTION SYSTEM LIS-100 and LIS-200, designed for the plastic bottle & container industry, checks up to 800 bottles/minute and separates mislabeled bottles automatically.
This Line-Scan Photo Sensory Technology (US Patent) checks for label placement and commonly found defects in a variety of labeling methods, including in-mold-labeling, heat transfer, roll feed and die cut labels. The LIS inspects labels on oval, square & rectangular containers for the following defects:
  • missing labels
  • incorrect labels
  • skewed/twisted labels
  • offset labels
  • damaged corners
  • torn labels:
  • fill level (clear bottles)
  • cap presence
  • cocked cap
  • bottle height and
  • bar code reading

The key feature of this advanced technology is the self-learning.
It teaches itself by sensing 32 or 64 samples of correct labels or bottles, and creates a model of the label type, pattern, position etc.
All future bottles will be compared to this acceptable standard. The operator can adjust the sensitivity by a standard deviation multiplier. Any variations above set limit will be rejected. The LIS stores up to 8 different label masks for odd shaped labels. Fast change over from one type of label to another. Its major benefits are real time data, better and faster process control and it provides computer generated reports. It is very easy to install and operate and most economical.
